Idris El-Feghi has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning from 1988 to the present day. Idris currently holds the position of Senior AI Scientist at Future Fertility since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at SomaDetect as a Senior AI Scientist for four years from 2018 to 2022. At SomaDetect, they led the development of algorithms using computer vision and machine learning techniques to optimize farming activities and detect pregnancy and other critical indicators of dairy quality.
Before joining SomaDetect, El-Feghi worked at pathcore as a Senior Research Scientist from 2016 to 2018. Idris also worked as a Software Developer at Canadian Bank Notes from 2003 to 2005, where they designed and implemented software systems for pattern recognition and image indexing and retrieval. Additionally, they worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Windsor from 1996 to 2003, where they developed and implemented algorithms for craniofacial landmarking in X-ray images.
El-Feghi's career started at the Ministry of Industry, where they served as the Industrial Information Center Manager from 1988 to 1995. In this role, they managed a team of employees, handled computer repairs and troubleshooting, and developed a database for inventory tracking.

Idris El-Feghi pursued their education in the field of Computer Engineering. Idris completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree at the University of Portland from 1979 to 1983. Idris then went on to obtain their Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree at the University of Windsor, where they studied from 1996 to 1999. Continuing their academic journey, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree also in Computer Engineering from the University of Windsor, completing their studies from 1999 to 2002.
