Peter Farquharson has over 38 years of work experience in various roles. From 1981 to 1985, they worked as a Project Manager/ Site Agent for French Kier Construction, where they managed the Embankment Underground Station project. From 1985 to 1990, they worked as a Senior Engineer for Alan Baxter and Associates, where they developed schemes and directed and supervised others in the production of information. From 1990 to 1993, they worked as a Project Management for WA Fairhurst and Partners, where they led the development of the detailed design of the London Dome Complex. In 1993, they founded and became the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland, where they created a fully autonomous, self-funded organisation with an annual turnover in excess of $4M. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as the Middle East Capital Campaign Director for Habitat for Humanity International, where they opened up the Middle East region as a new market and created an integrated Marketing and Fundraising Strategy across the ME. From 2012 to 2013, they worked as a Housing/Urban Programme Implementation Consultant for UN-HABITAT (United Nation Human Settlements Programme), where they supported and developed strategies toward the implementation of Iraq National Housing Policy (INHP) in Baghdad, and the implementation of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Housing Strategy in Erbil. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as the Interim Chief Executive for Simon Community Northern Ireland, where they were responsible for more than 20 temporary accommodation facilities and 260 Staff. From 2013 to 2018, they worked as a Technical Advisor for NORTHERN IRELAND CO-OPERATION OVERSEAS (NI-CO) LTD, where they initiated a partnership with the United Nations in the Middle East with the goal of extending the existing NICO business portfolio. Finally, from 2018 to present, they have worked as the Chief Executive Officer for further.space.
Peter Farquharson received a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Hons in Civil and Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield in 1978-1981. Peter then went on to obtain a Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Civil Engineers in 1986-1987. Finally, they obtained a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (IoD) in 2008-2009.
