Carl Matthes Neumann has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fashion industry. Carl Matthes started their career as a Design Intern at IVANMAN, where they eventually became a Studio Manager, overseeing business needs, reducing costs, and coordinating atelier operations. Carl Matthes then worked as a Production and Sourcing Manager at Marina Hoermanseder. After that, Carl joined Hussein Chalayan as a Production Assistant and later took on the role of Production Coordinator. Carl Matthes also worked at palmer//harding Ltd as a Production Coordinator, where they were responsible for strategic planning, operational restructuring, and implementing sustainable practices. Prior to that, Carl worked at RÆBURN as a Production Coordinator. Currently, they hold the position of Head Production Merchandiser Menswear and Accessories at French Connection, where they have successfully modernized departments, increased sales and profitability, and played a crucial role in supply chain management.
Carl Matthes Neumann has a diverse education history with a focus on fashion and sustainability. In 2007, they obtained a Diploma in Fashion design from Academia Teniente Bolimod. Carl Matthes then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Fashion Design (Styliste/Modeliste) from ESMOD - International University of Art for Fashion Berlin, graduating in 2014.
In 2016, Carl enrolled at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, where they completed a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Multichannel Trade Management in Textile Business in 2018. To enhance their skills and knowledge further, Carl obtained certifications in Corporate Sustainability and Fashion and Sustainability. Carl Matthes completed the course "Corporate Sustainability. Understanding and Seizing the Strategic Opportunity" from Coursera, offered by Università Bocconi, in June 2020. In May 2020, they also obtained a certification in "Fashion and Sustainability: Understanding Luxury Fashion in a Changing World" from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, in collaboration with Kering.
