Hans Roel Nieuwenhuijse is an experienced program coordinator currently working at Free Press Unlimited since June 2022, overseeing Publeaks, the Totem Project, and regional media initiatives in Asia. Previously served as a donor account manager at Stichting MIVA, focusing on proposal writing and donor relations. At Oxfam Novib, held the role of program officer/finance officer within the Country Relations Management Team, facilitating project management and communication between country offices and The Hague. As a freelance consultant from 2011 to 2015, concentrated on development and political transition in Southeast Asia. Hans also contributed as a civil society program manager at Burma Centrum Nederland, promoting democratic transition in Myanmar, and led the projects department at the Holland Committee on Southern Africa, supporting southern African civil society and liberation movements. Earlier career roles included fair trade assistance at Fair Trade Original and training in participatory development methods at the Institute of Cultural Affairs. Hans holds two Master's degrees in Geography and Human Geography on Developing Countries from Utrecht University.
