Christopher Walter has a diverse work experience in the field of geospatial information and technology. Christopher started their career as a Conservation Planner at Lowcountry Open Land Trust in 1998 and worked there until 2002. From 2003 to 2006, they served as a GIS Analyst at CommEn Space. Christopher then joined Forterra (formerly Cascade Land Conservancy) in 2006 as the Geospatial Director, where they were responsible for managing all activities, equipment, materials, and personnel related to geospatial information and technology. Christopher prioritized and managed production workflows and deadlines, produced professional maps and visualizations, maintained custom spatial data, and designed and implemented spatial analyses to support program and fundraising needs.
Christopher Walter started their education at Purdue University in 1990, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Conservation Ecology. During their time there, they studied subjects such as ecology, evolution, population biology, conservation biology, genetics, and environmental policy. Their undergraduate education lasted until 1995.
Following their graduation from Purdue, Christopher went on to the University of Charleston in 1996. Christopher pursued a Master of Science degree in Environmental Studies with a focus on the Environmental Policy Analysis Track. During their two-year program, they studied policy analysis, economics, earth systems, conservation biology, and environmental law. Christopher completed their master's degree in 1998.
