Tao Laine Boyle has held a variety of roles in the past few years. In 2020, they were a Co-Founder at FoondaMate and a Fellow at Transcend Network. In 2021, they were part of The New Normal Cohort. In 2018, they were an Economics and Philosophy Tutor at the University of Cape Town. In 2019, they were a Summer Intern at Funda Wande, a Literacy Foundation in South Africa, where their responsibilities included compiling a research report on LTSM (Learner and Teacher Support Material) spending in South Africa, with a specific focus on LTSM spending in Limpopo province.

Tao Laine Boyle's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Cape Town (2017-2019), an exchange student program at Boston College (2018), and a July School offered jointly by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and UCT (2018). In 2020, they completed an Honours degree in BCom Hons in Economics at the University of Cape Town.
