Rachel Xue

VP, Finance at Flybits

Rachel Xue is the current VP of Finance at Flybits. Rachel has over 7 years of experience in auditing and financial reporting. Prior to joining Flybits, Rachel was a Manager of Reporting and Policy at CIBC Mellon and also worked at KPMG as an Audit Manager for Consumer and Industrial Markets. At CIBC Mellon, Rachel was responsible for creating monthly and quarterly Board reporting packages, researching and preparing accounting memos on technical issues, and reviewing cash flow analysis, regulatory reporting, reconciliations and manual journal entries. Rachel also successfully delivered one of the largest accounting standard conversion projects in recent years – IFRS 9 “Financial Instruments”.

At KPMG, Rachel managed audits of public and private clients ranging from $200 million to $3 billion in revenue in the steel manufacturing, industrial products, food services and pharmaceutical industries under IFRS and ASPE. Rachel also managed audits and SOX testing of components of U.S. companies ranging from $200 million to $400 million in revenue in the electrical equipment, logistics and security industries under PCAOB standards and US GAAP. In addition to managing direct reports and acting as performance manager for mentees, Rachel also prepared accounting policy memos on topics including business combination, goodwill and fixed asset impairment, going concern, intangible valuation, capital vs. operating lease, IFRIC 12, and minority interests.

Rachel has a strong background in auditing and financial reporting. Rachel is experienced in managing large projects and teams, as well as preparing accounting policy memos on various technical topics. Her experience with IFRS 9 “Financial Instruments” makes their uniquely qualified to lead Flybits’ finance team.

Rachel Xue has a Master of Management and Professional Accounting from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science with Honours in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
