About the Role: The Account Executive is a pivotal inside sales position responsible for acquiring, growing, and retaining customers across the United States. This role involves managing relationships, articulating the value of FlockDirect and Shared Truckload, and educating customers on the Flock Freight application. Account Executives drive bookings and revenue growth from both new and retained customers while developing actionable customer sales plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify high-quality leads and convert them into clients through the sales pipeline.
  • Strategically select and close accounts with minimal management intervention.
  • Tailor communication strategies to meet customer needs effectively.
  • Maintain a high volume of prospect talk time through outbound phone calls, external customer meetings and demos, and follow-up activities. 
  • Implements a variety of prospecting techniques (cold calls, networking, referrals) to supplement and continuously fill a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to provide industry-changing solutions that address immediate and long-term client needs.
  • Sets and achieves personal daily, weekly and monthly activity quotas.
  • Build and maintain credibility with customers through superior account management.
  • Understand and continuously update knowledge on clients’ needs, challenges, and key decision-makers.
  • Maximize wallet share by ongoing assessment of a customer’s revenue potential via Annual Freight Spend.
  • Provide strategic consultation to internal and external stakeholders to facilitate successful freight movement.
  • Handle accessorial costs, overrides, and additional approvals as necessary.
  • Engage and transition new clients to contractual agreements, facilitating the legal review process, where needed.
  • Track and manage account information, communications, and status updates within Flock systems.
  • Achieve monthly gross profit dollar and shipment volume quotas as set by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience as an Account Executive in the freight industry.
  • Experience with LTL/Partial shipments is a plus.
  • High activity motor - volume and speed win!
  • Proven ability to consistently meet or exceed sales and activity quota.
  • Strong motivation driven by results.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn new product concepts.
  • Ability to make cold calls and engage customers proactively.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, startup environment with a strong drive to succeed.

The expected on-target earnings range for this position is $70,000-$110,000 per year. This range reflects typical earning potential in this role. When determining an offer, we take into account a variety of factors that are important in making compensation decisions including, but not limited, to: skill sets; experience and tenure; education and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is based on market data for the greater San Diego area. Salary bands may, in some circumstances, be adjusted to a different geographic area depending on the candidate's position and location. In general, Flock Freight targets the mid-point of this salary range.

In addition to salary, full-time employees are also eligible for an equity package and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Flock Freight. Our policy is that we target candidates local to one of Flock Freight’s headquarters locations (San Diego and Chicago) and ask that employees work in-office.
