John Luxford has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. John started their career in 1998 as a Graphic/Web Designer for Great Lakes Television. John then worked as a Lead Developer for Thomson New Media/Winnipeg Free Press from 1999 to 2002, where they created web-based software applications. In 2001, John founded Simian Systems Inc., where they developed a web-based software package for building and managing websites. John gained international clients and built a strong portfolio.

In 2005, John founded putfwd.com, a social file storage and sharing service with various features such as global tagging, friend groups, and public file postings. John also worked as a Co-founder/Developer for Dojo Learning from 2007 to 2011.

From 2010 to 2014, John served as the Lead Developer at the Centre for Education and Work. In 2012, they founded Festivalist and worked as its Founder until 2013.

John then took on the role of Chief Technology Officer at Flipside XR in 2014. John also held the same position at The Campfire Union in the same year.

More recently, in 2019, John co-founded HeyAlfa and took on the role of Cofounder & CTO. HeyAlfa is a marketing automation tool for events that generates complete social media campaigns for every social network based on an event's unique information. The company is currently in closed beta.

Throughout their career, John has demonstrated technical expertise, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills.

John Luxford attended The University of Winnipeg in the year 2000, where they enrolled in the Internet Systems Specialist Program. However, it is worth noting that they did not complete a degree during this period.
