Pavels Zahars has extensive work experience as a Chief Engineer in various shipping companies. Pavels began their career with ADG Shipmanagement as a Technical Superintendent from June 2003 to July 2005. Zahars then joined Overseas Shipholding Group as a Chief Engineer from January 2011 to January 2015. Pavels later worked for THENAMARIS as a Chief Engineer from January 2015 to January 2022. Most recently, Zahars joined Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement as a Chief Engineer in October 2007 and is currently employed there. Additionally, they started working for FLEX LNG as a Chief Engineer in September 2022 and is still in that position.
Pavels Zahars has a diverse education history spanning several years. In 1988, they attended Riga Marine College and obtained a degree in Marine Engineering, specifically studying Ship's Engines. Pavels then pursued further education in the field of maritime operations, completing a Diploma in Technical Superintendent at Lloyd's Maritime Academy from 2009 to 2010.
In 2011, Zahars attended IBC Global Academy where they obtained a Diploma in Fundamentals of LNG, further expanding their knowledge in the shipping industry. Later, from 2014 to 2016, they attended Middlesex University and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Ship Superintendency in the field of Business Administration.
Besides their formal education, Zahars also possesses a range of additional certifications. These include courses such as ACS6000 SD/AD Marine Drive Course from ABB Marine Academy Singapore, Automation System K-Chief 700/SVC-400 Basic Course and Automation System K-Chief 700 Maintenance Course - Step II from Kongsberg Maritime, HV Power Distribution System from ABB Marine Academy Singapore, ME Engine Control System from MAN Primserv Academy, Safety Management System Auditor Training Course, Short Range Radio Operator from LAPA TRAINING LTD, and Wartsila Engine W50DF Operation Advanced from WÄRTSILÄ Land & Sea Academy.
Additionally, Zahars holds the certification of Chief Engineer, 1st Class, 3000 kW or more, with no limitations, issued by the Latvian Maritime Administration. Furthermore, they have obtained the International Motor & Sailing Yacht Captain certification from Latvian Traffic Department.
