Michael Mullen has a diverse work experience spanning various leadership roles. Michael started their career in the U.S. Coast Guard, where they served as an Assistant Aviation Engineering Officer and later as an Aviation Engineering Officer. Michael then moved on to become the U.S. Coast Guard Deputy Commandant for Mission Support at the headquarters. Following this, they worked as the Executive Officer at the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak and later as the Chief of Response at the U.S. Coast Guard District Nine. After their time in the Coast Guard, they pursued a National Security Fellowship at Harvard University. Michael then took on the role of Director of Aviation at Whirlpool Corporation before joining Flexjet as the Vice President of Flight Operations in 2022. Throughout their career, Mullen has gained experience in operations management, budgeting, and strategic leadership.
Michael Mullen earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics & Computer Science from US Coast Guard Academy in the years 1988-1992. Michael then obtained a Master's degree in Industrial Administration (MSIA) from Purdue University Daniels School of Business in 2007-2008. In 2001-2004, they pursued a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) in Public Administration from the University of Alaska Southeast. Michael later completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Purdue University Daniels School of Business in 2007-2008. In 2014-2015, they attended Harvard Kennedy School as a National Security Fellow, focusing on National Security. Michael'seducation continued with the Executive Leaders Program in National Security Policy Studies at Naval Postgraduate School from 2016 to 2017. Michael also holds additional certifications in various fields, including leadership credibility and project management in DHS acquisitions.
