Lara Veldman, MPH, currently serves as a Program Associate at Fistula Foundation, beginning in August 2023. Previously, Lara worked as a Program Associate at MDC, where responsibilities included providing technical assistance and program support to enhance health outcomes in rural North Carolina counties from November 2022 to May 2023. Earlier experience at EngenderHealth as an Impact, Research, and Evaluation Intern involved conducting data analysis in SPSS for a research manuscript focused on sexual and gender-based violence from May 2022 to August 2022. Lara co-founded and served as Chapter Co-President for PERIOD. at the University of Virginia, advocating against period poverty and stigma from August 2020 to May 2021. Additional experience includes serving as a Swahili Peer Tutor at the UVA Office of African American and African Studies during the same period. Education includes a Master's degree in Global Health from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health (2021-2023) and a Bachelor's of Science in Education, Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Virginia (2018-2021).
