Joel Palte has extensive experience in policy and advocacy within the social sector, currently serving as A/Director at Social Ventures Australia since February 2021. In this role, Joel focuses on strategy, business planning, and impact measurement, particularly for non-profit organizations and governments in mental health, disability, and impact investing. As Deputy Chair and former NSW Coordinator of First Hike Project, Joel has been instrumental in supporting young people from refugee backgrounds through outdoor experiences. Previous roles include Associate Director at the Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW), where Joel drove strategic policy reforms, and a solicitor at DLA Piper, advising the federal government on administrative law. Joel holds a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) with Laws from Macquarie University.
