Elizabeth Portillo has a diverse range of work experience in the library field. Elizabeth started their career as a Volunteer at the Dobbs Ferry Public Library, where they assisted with children's programs and learned basic clerical tasks. Elizabeth then worked as a Library Page and Clerk at the library, where they performed clerical tasks at the circulation desk and helped maintain the library's website and social media presence.

Elizabeth later became a Librarian Trainee at the Dobbs Ferry Public Library, where they provided reference and reader's advisory services and planned story time programs. Additionally, they co-coached the library's Battle of the Books team for tweens.

Elizabeth then worked as a Graduate Student Assistant at the University at Buffalo Music Library, where they assisted with various tasks in the library.

Elizabeth gained experience in youth services as a Teen Coach at the Westchester Library System, where they helped teens with children's program planning at multiple libraries.

Elizabeth also worked as a Circulation/Access Services Clerk at the Greenburgh Public Library, where they performed clerical tasks at the circulation desk and assisted with access and technical services.

In their most recent role at the Finkelstein Memorial Library, Elizabeth is currently serving as the Head of Youth Services. In this position, they oversee all aspects of the children's/teen departments, including managing a 25-person staff, handling budgets, scheduling, programming, and collection development. Elizabeth also communicates and collaborates with other department heads and the Director on behalf of the Youth Services Department.

Overall, Elizabeth Portillo has demonstrated a strong commitment to providing library services to children and teens throughout their career.

Elizabeth Portillo has a Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science (MSLIS) from the University at Buffalo. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media, Society, and the Arts from Purchase College, SUNY.
