Jiyoung Yang started their career as an Analyst at The Bank of Korea in 1995, where they worked in the Banking Supervision Office and later in the Credit Supervision Department. They performed financial-credit analysis of large corporations and analyzed the financial status of distressed companies.
In 1999, Jiyoung joined the Financial Supervisory Service as an Associate in the Securities Supervision Department. They were involved in proposing revisions to regulations, evaluating the performance of derivatives markets, and setting up internal control and risk management systems.
Jiyoung then took a role as a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School from 2009 to 2010.
Returning to the Financial Supervisory Service, Jiyoung became a Lead Manager in the BCBS team of the Banking Supervision Department. They were responsible for planning the introduction and implementation of Basel 3 and Basel 2 regulations, participating in various Basel committees and groups, and making regulations on market risk management. They also took part in regulatory assessments in Singapore and China.
In 2019, Jiyoung became the Team Head at the Financial Supervisory Service, leading a team with unspecified details.
Jiyoung Yang obtained an MBA with a focus on Finance and Risk Management from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. This educational experience occurred from 2002 to 2003.
