Andrea Botarelli has over 15 years of experience in the field of R&D in software engineering. Andrea began their career at Magnetek, where they provided support for the introduction of a monitoring system for integration into Solar product lines. Andrea then joined POWER-ONE ITALY S.P.A., where they worked as an R&D Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer, designing and developing embedded software for solar inverters of various capacities. Their responsibilities included real-time control, industrial protocols, diagnostics, and boot programming.
In 2014, Botarelli joined ABB, where they held roles as an R&D Senior Software Engineer and later as an R&D Principal Engineer. Here, they focused on designing and testing embedded software for a new ARM/FreeRTOS-based embedded platform. Andrea also worked on architecture design for control applications, introduced the FreeRTOS kernel and debugging toolchain, and developed C libraries and unit testing frameworks.
Most recently, they are employed at FIMER S.p.A as an R&D Principal Engineer. In this role, they serve as the Chief Architect for the development of a new product platform called "Orion". Their responsibilities include end-to-end platform modeling, deployment on SW applications, data model definition, and the design of client-server/pub-sub protocols, among others.
Throughout their career, Andrea Botarelli has consistently demonstrated their expertise in software engineering, specifically in designing embedded software for control applications and developing tools and frameworks to enhance software development processes.
Andrea Botarelli obtained a Laurea Magistrale LM in Ingegneria Elettronica with a focus on Elettronica Numerica from the Università degli Studi di Firenze from 1999 to 2005.
