Dawana (Du'ana) Speights is an accomplished writer, producer, and director with extensive experience in the film and television industry. Currently serving as Executive Assistant to the President at Film Independent since January 2023, Dawana has a diverse background that includes roles such as Executive Assistant to Co-Executive Producer Nicole Jefferson Asher, where administrative duties included scheduling and script proofreading. Dawana participated in the CBS Leadership Pipeline Challenge as a selected writer and has contributed narrative writing for video games and podcasts. Additional experience includes a Development Intern position at Feigco Entertainment, where analysis and coverage of scripts were key responsibilities, and a Program Coordinator role at the University of Southern California, organizing events for the MFA program in Writing for Screen & Television.
