Maria Isabel Guevara Duque is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of archaeology and anthropology, currently serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois Chicago and as a Scientific Affiliate/Graduate Research Assistant at The Field Museum since August 2021. Maria has extensive experience as an Independent Consultant in archaeology since October 2019 and previously held the position of Jefa de Inventario Arqueológico at Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Other roles include an archaeologist at Museo Weilbauer and a laboratory assistant in archaeology at Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Maria's educational background is robust, with a Doctor of Philosophy and a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Illinois Chicago, alongside multiple Master’s degrees in related fields from Sapienza Università di Roma and the University of Évora, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts focusing on Archaeology from Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Maria also participated in a year abroad at Kalamazoo College.
