Håkan Sahlen has a long and varied work experience. Starting in 1991 with the Swedish Army, where they held the role of Kompanibefäl, they then moved on to Ericsson Radio Systems AB in 1999 as a Software Developer. In 2000, they took on a Technical Consultant role with Digiscope, and in 2001 they took on a similar role with Askus. In 2002, they were a Technical Consultant with Altran Group, and in 2003 they were a Mathematics and Science Teacher with Älvsjö Stadsdelsförvaltning. In 2006, they took on a role as Head of MasterData and Analysis, as well as Product Manager Accessories and Computer Accessories, with Media-Saturn. In 2011, they were a Consumer Business Manager Scandinavia with F-Secure Corporation, and in 2014 they were a Business Developer with Cenor Nordic. Since 2015, they have held the roles of VP Business Development and VP Sales with Fidesmo, with the latter role involving many tasks such as business development, budgets, sales activities, sale initiatives, building the brand Fidesmo, and doing some visionary work around Fidesmo's open and flexible software platform.

Håkan Sahlen's education history includes completing a M Sc in Engineering Physics from Uppsala University between 1993 and 1999, a Physics degree from University College Dublin between 1997 and 1998, a Teaching degree from Stockholm University between 2004 and 2006, Secondary school from Vasa Gymnasium between 1989 and 1990, Secondary school from Hersby between 1987 and 1989, and a year at Åsö Gymnasium in 1990 and 1991.
