Patrick Burns has a strong background in laser research and development. From 2009 onwards, they worked at Fibertek as a Laser Scientist, focusing on the development of solid-state laser systems for space-based lidar systems. Patrick'sresponsibilities included designing, assembling, testing, and delivering prototype and deliverable lasers. Patrick also ensured that the optical design and performance testing met system requirements.
Before their time at Fibertek, Patrick worked as a Principal Scientist at Research Support Instruments from 2005 to 2009. During this period, they served as an on-site contractor at the Naval Research Laboratory in the Plasma Physics Division. Patrick'swork revolved around the Electra laser, a research and development program for laser inertial confinement fusion with KrF lasers. Patrick was responsible for conducting experiments and developing diagnostics to support the laser development.
Patrick Burns completed their education from 1998 to 2004 at Lehigh University, where they pursued a Phd in Physics.
