Daniel (Dan) Schy is a highly-regarded family law attorney known for his dedication to his clients and zealous advocacy in the courtroom. He helps families navigate all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, spousal and child support, and cases involving domestic violence. Dan has a proven record of success handling complex cases, including those involving high-net-worth individuals, complex property division, and contested child custody matters.
A tough, strategic negotiator, Dan encourages cooperation between parties with the goal of reaching fair, amicable settlements. When that proves impossible, however, Dan is a skilled and experienced trial attorney who has successfully litigated cases throughout the courts of Northern Virginia.
Dan grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated with Honors from the College of William & Mary. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Richmond School of Law, and has focused his practice exclusively on family law for nearly twenty years. Prior to joining FTLF, Dan served as the Chair of the Family Law Practice Group for Legal Services of Northern Virginia, a non-profit law firm dedicated to offering pro bono legal assistance to the indigent, elderly and disabled. While there, he played an instrumental role in creating a program that provided legal aid to hundreds of victims of domestic violence each year.
