Michael S. Gibson is director of the Division of Supervision and Regulation at the Federal Reserve Board. As division director, he oversees the Federal Reserve’s development of bank regulatory policy and its supervision of banking organizations. He works closely with officials from other U.S. and international government agencies on bank oversight issues.
He formerly served as deputy director in the Division of Research and Statistics at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, where he was responsible for overseeing the division’s financial functions. He has worked on research and policy issues related to financial stability, financial markets and derivatives. He has authored articles on value at risk, stress testing, and credit derivatives. He served on the faculty of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business for two years and as a visiting lecturer at Princeton University. He has a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in economics from Stanford University.
