Carla Nickel has extensive experience in international cooperation and policy development, currently serving as a Senior Policy Officer at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development since May 2015. Previously, Carla held the position of Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Dakar from February 2020 to July 2023. Additional roles include Manager of Politics & Communication at the Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft from May 2013 to May 2015, and various positions within the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft e.V. Carla's early career features research assistance at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and internships with the Ghana Microfinance Institutions Network and Deutscher Bundestag. Carla holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from Kiel University, completed in 2011.
