Gavin McEwen has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Gavin is currently the Chief Operations Officer at FarmIQ Systems Ltd since 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Director, Chief Executive Officer, and General Manager at Farmax Ltd from 2011 to 2022. At Farmax Ltd, they played a key role in creating decision support tools for pastoral farms.
Before joining Farmax Ltd, McEwen served as the Managing Director of G J Property Ltd since 2004. Gavin also worked at LIC (Livestock Improvement Corp.) as a Business Manager, Farm Information from 2009 to 2011. Their responsibilities at LIC involved product development and management for customer-facing software and strategic planning for a comprehensive farm system for New Zealand dairy farmers.
In addition, McEwen founded and served as the Managing Director of Fairport Farm Systems from 2004 to 2009. Gavin also co-founded and held the position of Director at Xenacom Limited from 1997 to 2008.
Overall, McEwen's experience spans across operations, leadership, management, and product development in the agricultural industry.
Gavin McEwen attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2016, where they completed a Te Hono Bootcamp. Prior to that, from 1980 to 1983, they pursued a Bachelor of Horticulture degree at Lincoln University in New Zealand, specializing in Business process management. Before their university studies, from 1976 to 1980, Gavin completed their University Entrance at Cambridge High School. During their time at the high school, they actively participated in rugby, athletics, tennis, and squash.
