John Choptiany PhD is a climate adaptation expert at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) since January 2025 and co-founder and co-CEO of FARMBETTER, a social enterprise empowering smallholders across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America through tailored digital advice. Prior to these roles, John served as VP of Programs at iDE, overseeing technical departments and representing the organization in the UK and Europe. Experience includes managing significant climate resilience projects for the FAO, leading a portfolio at Palladium, and consulting on environmental risk. With an interdisciplinary PhD from Dalhousie University, John has developed innovative decision-making frameworks and has extensive work in sustainable practices and energy efficiency.
