Whina Te Whiu is an experienced museum and archival professional currently serving as the Manager of Te Ahu Museum and Archives since March 2023 and has been a Museum Curator at the Museum at Te Ahu since September 2017. With a strong background in indigenous knowledge development, Whina has worked as a researcher and knowledge creator for IO Creatives Trust since 2011, alongside various roles in archival projects, training, and the preservation of artefacts. Contributions to the RAIATEA Tribal Archive and Research Centre since 2014 include conservation reporting, archiving training, and policy development. As the project leader for the Maori Subject Headings Framework, Whina has made significant strides in library sciences. Previous roles include positions at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, John Kinder Theological Library, and Auckland City Council, covering various aspects of Maori cultural treasures and library management. Whina holds a Graduate Diploma in Heritage and Museum Studies from Eastern Institute of Technology and a Diploma of Maori and Information Management from Te Wānanga o Raukawa.
