Mark Locke is the Co-Founder and CEO of Genius Sports. Under Mark’s leadership, Genius has grown exponentially to become one of the world’s largest sports data and technology companies, powering the global ecosystem that connects sports, betting and media.
Mark founded the company in 2000, with the launch of its sports betting division. In 2015, seeing the untapped opportunities at the nexus of the sports, betting and media worlds, Mark created Genius Sports. Through acquisitions in Australia and Europe, and expansion into the Americas, Asia and Africa, Genius has gained an unrivalled depth and breadth of global sports coverage. His vision has been central to the company’s partnerships with hundreds of sports governing bodies, including the English Premier League, NBA, NCAA, MLB, PGA Tour, Bundesliga, Serie A, AFA, Liga MX, FIBA and NASCAR.
Recognized as a global expert on sports technology, integrity and regulation, Mark regularly appears at industry, regulatory and policy forums where he speaks on the increasing need for both education and technology to strengthen the integrity of sports. Such work has included testifying to the US House of Representatives’ Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade; and engaging with the UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport. Mark has also advised former Senators John McCain and Orrin Hatch, and UK parliamentarian Tracey Crouch, MP. From Washington, D.C. to Brasilia, Mark has led sports integrity committees alongside fellow experts from the English Premier League, American Gaming Association, MGM Resorts International, La Liga and the Colombian gaming authority.
Under Mark’s leadership, in 2018 Genius Sports was acquired by the leading private equity firm Apax Partners to accelerate its global growth. It was subsequently ranked 37th in the 2019 Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, and as the only sports company in the Financial Times’ FT 1000 for 2020.
