Johannes Petrat has a diverse work experience as a data scientist. Johannes currently serves as the Lead Data Scientist at Faculty since 2022. Previously, they worked at Improbable as an Applied Scientist from 2018 to 2022, where they led cross-functional teams and focused on geospatial data science, machine learning, probabilistic modelling, and simulation. Prior to that, Johannes held the role of No. 10 Innovation Fellow - Senior Data Scientist at 10 Downing Street from 2021 to 2022, collaborating with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to address humanitarian crises using data. Johannes also worked as a Data Scientist at Capgemini in 2017 and as a Data Scientist, Senior Consultant at Hitachi Consulting in 2016. Johannes started their career as the first Data Scientist at GYANA from 2014 to 2016, where they worked closely with the CEO and CTO to develop machine learning applications and software solutions aligned with business goals. Johannes gained intern experience at EY in 2013 and PPI AG in 2012.
Johannes Petrat has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Jacobs University Bremen, which they obtained from 2011 to 2014. Johannes also completed a semester abroad at Stockholm University in 2013 and 2014, where they studied Advanced Real Analysis II, Optimization, Risk Management, and Convex Optimization. In 2014 and 2015, Johannes pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing at the University of Oxford. Johannes was a junior student at the University of Hamburg from 2010 to 2011.
