Answering the call for increased power demand is Wilhelm’s own Doug Pickering. He leads the charge for Wilhelm’s industrial markets, and is entrusted to manage and develop segments in power and energy, as well as process manufacturing construction. An industry veteran, Doug’s national and international experience leads innovative project delivery.
After earning a degree in electrical engineering from Rose-Hulman and an MBA from Indiana University, he worked in various capacities, gaining experience in industrial, power, chemical, and renewable energy areas. As a result, he has in-depth knowledge of EPC operations management, project management, project controls, systems engineering, constructability and life-cycle cost analysis, risk management, asset valuation, energy market analysis, contracting strategy development and negotiation, procurement management, engineering management, construction management, and commissioning.
Despite all the technical know-how, Pickering’s favorite aspect of his job is building relationships. He thrives in the role of trusted advisor to clients who want facilities that will last for years to come. Helping them see why work is done a certain way to avoid long term problems and leading a team that makes sure structures are built safely and correctly are at the core of his efforts.
