Jan B. is a seasoned technology leader with extensive experience in advisory roles, software architecture, and technical leadership within start-ups and established companies. Currently serving as Principal at Upstartian, Jan focuses on mentoring tech startups in Southern California and expanding services to Europe. As Acting CTO for Eyes4Lives, Jan addresses eye-related health challenges caused by electronic devices. Additional roles include mentoring first-time entrepreneurs as an Innovation Advisor at UCI Beall Applied Innovation and contributing as an IT Mentor for the European Innovation Academy. Jan co-founded Gliimpse, acquired by Apple Health, and has held positions at Akiva Health Systems, Yahoo!, and UC Berkeley, where pioneering research in advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous vehicle navigation was conducted. Jan holds a Master’s in Computer Science specializing in AI from UC Berkeley and a Master’s in Computer Engineering from Paderborn University.
