Alexander Birmingham started their work experience as a Software Development Engineer at Marchex in 2009 and worked there until 2012. Alexander then moved to Serials Solutions and worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer from 2012 to 2013. At Serials Solutions, they spearheaded the development of SOA using SpringMVC and wrote an API client with cross-service exception propagation and type-safe deserialization. In 2013, they joined ExtraHop Networks as a Senior Principal Software Engineer. Alexander worked as a Team Lead and Principal Engineer on the product firmware and later joined the architecture team. At ExtraHop Networks, they contributed to building a world-class engineering organization in cybersecurity.

Alexander Birmingham attended The College of Idaho for an unspecified period of time. From 2003 to 2007, they studied there without completing a degree. In 2008, they briefly attended DePaul University but did not complete a degree. Alexander returned to The College of Idaho and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, though the specific field of study is unknown.
