Tonya Williams has a diverse work experience history. Tonya started as a College & Careers Youth Manager at Pillsbury United Communities in May 2013, where they worked until October 2015. From October 2015 to October 2016, they served as a Youth Program Manager at Camp Fire Minnesota. In 2016, they joined Excell Academy for Higher Learning, first as a Student Success Coach from October 2016 to December 2022, and later as the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging from August 2021 (ongoing). Additionally, they founded Journey Productions in 2005 and has held the role of Artistic Director/Founder since then.

Tonya Williams completed their education at Augsburg University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies. Tonya attended the university from 2007 to 2010.
