Rob Marchington has a diverse work experience in technical roles. Rob is currently the Technical Director at Evonetix Ltd, where they previously served as a Principal Engineer. At Evonetix, they contributed to the development of DNA synthesis platforms using a unique, silicon chip-based approach.
Prior to joining Evonetix, Rob worked at Cambridge Consultants, starting as a Senior Consultant and later becoming a Principal Engineer. In this role, they applied their expertise in the medical technology division, designing and developing innovative optical and microfluidic systems for various applications including synthetic biology, diagnostics, and biomedicine. Rob also worked extensively on beverage dispense technology.
Earlier in their career, Rob held positions at the University of St Andrews as a Research Fellow in Biophotonics. Here, they conducted research on optical manipulation, optical sorting, and optical-mediated cell transfection within microfluidic chips. Rob also gained expertise in micro-fabrication techniques. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Scientist, focusing on applications of microfluidic chips in optical manipulation and photoporation.
Rob's work experience also includes a brief stint as a Laser Engineer at SELEX S&AS.
Rob Marchington's education history includes:
- From 2001 to 2004, they studied Physics at Imperial College London and earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree.
- From 2005 to 2006, they pursued further education at Heriot-Watt University, specializing in Photonics & Optoelectronic Devices, and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree.
