René Canezin has approximately 30 years of experience in building and managing investment businesses in multiple global locations across all asset classes and derivatives. Prior to founding the Firm in 2018, René joined Harvard Management Company (HMC) in 2011, where he was responsible for building and managing the absolute return credit portfolio. During his tenure, he took additional leadership roles in overseeing Fixed Income, Commodities, and International Equities portfolios with total risk capital exceeding $3 billion. In 2015, René managed HMC’s material Natural Resources portfolio of direct private investments while maintaining his responsibility for the capital markets platform. During this time, René was named Co-head of the Investment Committee and later formed the HMC Private Credit team in January 2017 with Michael Guarnieri.
Prior to joining HMC, René spent 21 years at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Bank. René was Head of U.S. Credit and Global High Yield Trading for Barclays Capital, where he led credit trading teams including High Yield, Leveraged Loans, Distressed, Investment Grade, and Index Trading. In addition to his trading role, René formed an independent principal investment team which invested in private and public credit and structured credit products throughout the U.S. and Europe. During his 18 years at Lehman Brothers, René held various responsibilities including regional treasurer for Asia based in Tokyo, Head of Structured Products within Structured Credit Trading, and Head of U.S. High Yield Trading and Principal Strategies. René graduated magna cum laude from Boston College with a BS in Finance.
