James McDermott has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. James is currently employed at EverQuote as a Software Engineer II, starting in July 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Norn Industries as a Game Programmer from October 2021 to July 2022. James also had a previous stint at EverQuote as a Software Engineer II from April 2021 to October 2021. Before joining EverQuote, James worked at Cygilant as a Software Engineer from September 2020 to April 2021. James gained experience in digital engineering at PA Consulting from March 2019 to September 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Financial Engineer/Java Developer at First Derivatives from May 2017 to March 2019. James has also worked as Call Centre Staff at Southern Regional College for a brief period in 2016 and as a Customer Service Representative at Teleperformance in 2014.

James McDermott obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Queen's University Belfast, where they studied from 2013 to 2016. In addition to their degree, they also acquired certifications such as "Developing Applications with Google Cloud Platform Specialization" from Coursera in June 2019 and "AWS Certified Developer - Associate" from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in October 2019.
