James O'Neill has held various positions in the past seven years. In 2012, they were a Retail Sales Assistant at Calendar Club (Aus) Pty. Ltd. In 2013, they worked as a Retail and Sales Assistant at OOBE - Out Of Box Experience, as well as a Freelance Commercial Photographer at Jimmyo. From 2016 to 2019, they held positions at Trade Me as a Customer Service Specialist and Social Media Support Specialist, Noel Leeming as a Sales Assistant, and Everpress as a Community Support Representative and Senior Community Support Representative.

James O'Neill attended St Bede's College from 2007 to 2011, where they achieved a National Certificate of Educational Achievement Levels 1, 2, and 3. James then attended Massey University from 2012 to 2015, where they earned a Bachelor of Design in Photographic Design.
