Alain Retiere has a wealth of work experience in various roles and companies. Alain co-founded EVERIMPACT in 2014 and served as the CTO. In this role, Alain helped cities and companies measure and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions using satellites and ground sensors.
In 2019, they joined LDN Advisory as the President and Chief Agronomist. At LDN Advisory, Alain provided high-level assistance for the design, planning, structuring, and implementation of Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) projects.
Prior to that, Alain worked at Cap 2100 International as the President and CEO from 2013 to an unspecified end date. Their responsibilities at Cap 2100 International included providing scientific expertise for environmental analysis on a national, regional, and local scale. Alain also facilitated the dissemination of valuable information and products derived from earth and social science modeling.
Furthermore, Alain has served as an Expert émérite ODD at PROMÉTHÉE NewSpace from 2020 to December 2022 and as the President of Black Face Breizh from 2016 to 2021. Alain also worked as the Director of Operations TASK at Territoires Sciences et Sociétés from 2012 to 2013 and owned and directed CAP 2100 Consulting from 2011 to 2013.
In the earlier stages of their career, Alain held positions at UNDP and UNOPS. As the Director of CLIMSAT at UNDP from 2008 to 2010, they designed methods to incorporate climate change into local development strategies and established an expert center in collaboration with local communities and the United Nations. As the Director of UNOSAT at UNOPS from 2002 to 2008, Alain was responsible for providing technical advice on local planning. Alain also served as a Technical Advisor for the Division RESS at UNOPS from 1998 to 2001, focusing on local planning.
Alain Retiere has an extensive education history. Alain attended ESA, L'Ecole supérieure des agricultures from 1979 to 1984, where they obtained a Diplôme d'ingénieur in Agriculture, exploitation agricole et sciences apparentées. Alain then pursued further studies at Pierre and Marie Curie University from 1990 to 1991. During this time, they earned a Diplôme d'études approfondies in Écologie and a DEA (Master 2 Recherche) in Ecologie Tropicale. Alain's educational background demonstrates their strong foundation in agriculture and their later specialization in ecology, particularly tropical ecology.
