Sebastian Machuca has worked in the software engineering field since 2006. In 2006, they worked as a Development Engineer at Medipacs. From 2012 to 2014, they were a PHP Developer at Excite Digital Media, where they worked on horizontal scalable architecture to support heavy amounts of requests per second. In 2014, they were a Senior PHP Developer and Database Developer at AussieCommerce Group, where they were the lead developer to migrate SQL data from acquired external e-commerce. From 2015 to 2022, they worked at BigCommerce as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Staff Engineer, Lead Software Engineer, and Software Engineer. In 2022, they started working at Evergen as a Staff Engineer, and at Brighte as a Lead Software Engineer.

Sebastian Machuca obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; Ingeniería Civil en Computación Mencion Informatica from Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana in 2009 and an Ingeniero Civil en Computación in Informatica from the same institution in 2010. Sebastian also holds certifications from LinkedIn, Centre for Continuing Education, and edX.
