Lawrence Chin

Lawrence Chin has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Lawrence started their career in the United States Army Reserve as a Civil Affairs Non-Commission Officer, where they achieved a leadership role and co-led a team involved in government reconstruction.

After their military service, Lawrence worked at Yahoo! for a significant period, holding multiple roles as a Senior Software Engineer. Lawrence contributed to various projects, including Yahoo's identity/account management system, the Broadband team's ISP partner integration, the implementation of Yahoo's Single Sign On Provider, and the server-side component of the Parental Controls product. Lawrence also helped pioneer Yahoo's adoption of PHP as a new dynamic page generator.

Following their time at Yahoo!, Lawrence joined One Kings Lane as a Senior Software Engineer, where they were responsible for developing enterprise tools. At Zoetis, they were responsible for the software infrastructure, leading a contracted DevOps team, and providing technical expertise and guidance to improve performance and site reliability.

Currently, Lawrence is working at Eventbrite as a Backend Engineer, where they serve as a mentor to junior engineers, defines Jira Backend tickets, and drives the team's retrospectives.
