Abbie Peterson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Abbie began their career as a Student Clerical Assistant at the University of Iowa Admissions Visitor Center in 2014. In 2015, they interned at the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, where they worked as an Operations Intern for FRYfest and as the RAGBRAI Main Campground Operations Coordinator. Abbie also worked as a Receptionist at Michael Tschantz Salon during the same year.
In 2016, Abbie joined The ALS Association, Iowa Chapter as a Development Coordinator. In this role, they organized and coordinated various events and programs, such as the Walk to Defeat ALS, which involved overseeing planning committees, providing orientation to new participants, and maintaining outreach to teams across the state. Their efforts resulted in increased fundraising and registration numbers for the Cedar Rapids Walk to Defeat ALS.
From 2018 to 2021, Abbie served as a Development Manager on the Peer to Peer Program team at JDRF - Illinois Chapter. Abbie was responsible for overseeing the JDRF Illinois One Walk at Montrose Harbor in Chicago and the Team JDRF endurance program. Their work contributed to the organization's mission of finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Most recently, Abbie joined Event 360 in 2022 as a Marketing and Social Media Manager.
Abbie Peterson completed their Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, Human Relations, and Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Iowa from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they attended George Washington High School from 2009 to 2012. Abbie has also obtained additional certifications in "Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences," "Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging," and "Unconscious Bias" from LinkedIn in June 2020.
