Athanasios Petrou, MD, MSc (HPB), PhD, serves as Co-Director of the Department of Surgical Oncology and HPB Surgery at Group IASO since November 2022, and holds directorial positions in the Department of Surgical Oncology since November 2020 and at European University Cyprus as an Associate Professor since November 2019. With extensive experience as the Lead Consultant HPB and Surgical Oncology Surgeon and Head of the Advanced Laparoscopic HPB & Surgical Oncology Center at the American Medical Center/American Heart Institute since January 2013, Athanasios has contributed to educational activities as a member of the European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (E-AHPBA) since May 2017. Additional roles include Consultant HPB Surgeon for the Ministry of Health Cyprus since October 2011 and Director of the Liver and Pancreatic Surgery Department at Athens Medical Group from November 2019 to February 2023. Athanasios's academic credentials include a PhD in Medicine from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon and an MSc in HPB Surgery from Democritus University of Thrace, complemented by a Fellowship in HPB Surgery from the University of Oxford.
