Alexandros Vavousis

Mission Control System Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT

Alexandros Vavousis has a diverse work experience in the field of mission control systems and IT infrastructure. Since 2021, they have been working as a Mission Control System Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT. In this role, they are responsible for conducting operations, planning and scheduling routine and special operations, investigating and resolving anomalies, and managing system elements supporting monitoring and control of satellite systems.

Prior to that, Alexandros worked at Telespazio VEGA Deutschland GmbH from 2018 to 2021. Alexandros served as a Monitoring & Control Chain AIV Team Leader, where they coordinated activities related to the integration and verification of the MTG M&C Chain. Alexandros also generated and maintained metrics for the M&C chain and ensured proper life cycle management.

Before joining Telespazio VEGA Deutschland GmbH, Alexandros worked at Hellas Sat from 2006 to 2018. Alexandros held the position of Head of Information Technology & Projects, where they provided management and operational oversight for the IT & Projects Department. Alexandros was responsible for choosing, installing, maintaining, and supporting the IT infrastructure related to mission control and ground systems. Alexandros actively participated in the procurement of new IT infrastructure and played a key role in new satellite procurement projects.

In addition to their corporate roles, Alexandros has also worked as a freelance security consultant, specializing in network security and penetration testing from 2002 to 2006.

Alexandros Vavousis obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Automation from the Technical Educational Institute of Piraeus. Alexandros attended this institution from 1999 to 2003. Subsequently, Alexandros pursued further education at the University of Piraeus, where they completed a Master's degree program in Embedded Systems (MSc) from 2007 to 2008.
