Leith Franklin graduated from the University of South Australia first with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry and Microbiology and then with Honours in Chemical Technology. His honours project was a study of "The Chemical and Physical properties causing Stickiness in Dried Vine Fruit". Leith built upon his educational qualifications with short term employment in a number of food and chemical industries before taking the opportunity to complete Microbiological testing in-house for a small Complementary Medicine manufacturer in Australia's Barossa Valley. Leith returned to the wine industry working in a number of roles both within Laboratories and on Quality and Environmental Management in Australia. Leith became aware of ETS Laboratories through his role as the Statistical Secretary for the Interwinery Analysis Group. Leith works at ETS in a variety of customer support, export services, and special projects roles. He recently spearheaded the redevelopment of a robotic workstation, and is currently responsible for evaluating the feasibility of adapting new or existing methodologies to new analyses. Leith is relishing the opportunity to live ‘the other way up,’ and when he is not working may be found exploring horizons near and far, typically either by foot or bicycle.
