Asylai Akisheva's work experience begins in 2011 when they worked as a Legal Intern at the District Courts of Bishkek City for two months. Later that year, they also served as a Legal Intern at the Supreme Court of Kyrgyz Republic for one month.

In 2014, Asylai worked as a Legal Intern at both the UNDP and the "Sovetnik" Law Firm. Asylai then joined Rossotrudnichestvo as a Legal Advisor from September 2013 to January 2015.

In 2015, Asylai had two roles, firstly as a Legal Intern at OSCE and the Kyrgyz Parliament for three months, and then as a Corporate Lawyer at Samsung Electronics from May 2015 to October 2016.

Subsequently, Asylai worked as a Corporate Lawyer at the legal firm "Юридическая Фирма LEX" from November 2016 to July 2017.

From August 2018 to January 2019, they worked as a Legal Intern and Social Coordinator at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT).

Most recently, Asylai joined Eticas in October 2022 as a Researcher in Ethics & Tech, and their employment there is ongoing.

Asylai Akisheva is currently a PhD candidate in Public Law at Koç University, a program they have been pursuing since 2019 and is expected to complete in 2023. Prior to their enrollment at Koç University, Akisheva attended the Riga Graduate School of Law from 2017 to 2018, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International and European Law. Asylai also holds a Specialist Degree in Law (Qualification of a Lawyer) from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, which they obtained between 2010 and 2015. The field of study for their LLM degree and Specialist Degree in Law is not specified.
