Mark van Nieuwstadt is an experienced project manager and ecologist with a strong background in biodiversity and pollinator recovery. Currently serving as project manager for the SPRING project at Naturalis Biodiversity Center Nederland, Mark focuses on enhancing taxonomic capacity for pollinating insects within EU Member States. Previous roles include working as an independent ecologist and project manager, and as a healthcare worker for mentally disabled individuals at Abrona. With extensive freelance experience in project management, writing, and translation, Mark has specialized in nature and cultural heritage. Academic credentials include a PhD in plant ecology from Utrecht University, where significant research on tropical forests was conducted, alongside roles in Central America to support beekeeping initiatives and educate local stakeholders. Mark holds a Master of Sciences degree in Biology, Ecology from Utrecht University.
