Christian Plank has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Christian worked at ethris GmbH from 2010, starting as the Managing Director and Chief Scientific Officer, and later becoming the Managing Director and Chief Technical Officer. Before this, they served as a Research Group Leader at the Technische Universität München from 1997. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at UCSF from 1994 to 1997. Christian started their career as a Ph.D. student at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology in 1989.
Christian Plank obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Vienna between 1983 and 1994. During this time, their field of study was focused on nucleic acid delivery systems. Following this, from 1994 to 1997, they attended the University of California, San Francisco, where they engaged in studies related to gene delivery and gene therapy.
