Moya Connelly has a diverse background in the investment and sustainability fields. Moya is currently the Founder and CEO of Surmont Capital, a role they took on in 2022. Prior to that, in the same year, they worked as the Chief Operating Officer at Etho Capital.
In 2021, Moya served as a Strategic Advisor at Climate Policy Initiative and an Adjunct Professor of Impact Investing & ESG at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
From 2013 to 2020, they held the position of Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager at DWS Group, initially being recruited into a dual role. During this time, they managed microfinance investments in Latin America and focused on investing in social enterprises in the energy sector.
In 2013 and 2014, Moya worked as an Investment Manager at 3Sisters Sustainable Management, LLC. Moya analyzed new investments for the Scarab Global Community Impact Fund and managed portfolios for both SGCIF and another 3Sisters Fund.
Earlier in their career, they worked as the Director and Treasurer at Seed Capital Development Fund from 2004 to 2013, where they were responsible for overseeing directorial and treasury functions.
From 2009 to 2012, Moya was a Portfolio Manager at Innpact, where they played a key role in the start-up of socially responsible investment funds. Moya also advised on investment strategy for the Microfinance Enhancement Facility and the Global Climate Partnership Fund.
In 2008 and 2009, they worked as an Independent Consultant, providing advisory services to an investment bank, a potential new fund, and a microfinance institution.
Prior to that, Moya held the position of Senior Investment Officer at MicroVest Capital Management, LLC from 2007 to 2008. In this role, they developed deal sourcing relationships, completed investment deals, and created pricing templates for the investment team.

Moya Connelly has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics at Smith College. Moya also attended Tecnológico de Monterrey for high school and the Noble and Greenough School for another high school degree.
In terms of additional certifications, Moya is a FSA Credential Level II Candidate from the IFRS Foundation, and they obtained a Certificate in ESG Investing from CFA UK in 2021. Moya is also a Certified ESG Analyst from EFFAS - The European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies. Moreover, Moya has passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam from CFA Institute.
