Lucia Tonachel has a diverse work experience, beginning with their role as a Cabin Counselor at Camp Akeela in 2017. Lucia then interned at Essmart in 2017 and returned to the company in 2019 as Global Outreach & Fellowship Manager and Project Manager. In 2018, they worked as an Instructor at Hurricane Island Outward Bound School and as a Ski Instructor at Sunday River Skiway. In 2016, they were a Teacher at Grinnell College Laboratory Preschool and a Senior Intern at Grinnell College Innovator for Social Justice Prize. Finally, in 2015 they Co Founded the Grinnell High School Student Resource Center.

Lucia Tonachel received their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Anthropology and Global Development Studies from Grinnell College in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained their High School Diploma from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in 2014.
