Director of ML Operations at Espressive

Priyanka B. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of computational linguistics. Priyanka is currently working at Espressive as the Director of ML Operations, where they are responsible for maintaining the growth of NLP models and supporting the customer base. Prior to this, they worked at Google as an Associate Linguist, where they provided linguistic expertise and improved semantic understanding in the talent space.

Priyanka also worked at Apple as a Siri Computational Linguist, where they played a key role in expanding Siri's functionalities in under-resourced languages. Additionally, they worked at the University of California San Diego as a Lecturer, teaching courses on Computational Linguistics and mentoring students on NLP projects.

Earlier in their career, Priyanka was a Graduate Researcher at the University of Southern California, where they wrote a dissertation on the structure and interpretation of human language quantification and definiteness. Priyanka also worked as a Research Assistant at the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy, and as a Computational Linguistics Project Manager at the Central Institute of Indian Languages.

Furthermore, Priyanka gained research experience through internships at Microsoft Research India, where they focused on computational linguistics. Priyanka has a strong publication record, with multiple publications, conference presentations, collaborative projects, and awards resulting from their research.

Priyanka B. completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Linguistics from the University of Southern California from 2011 to 2016. Before that, they obtained their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Quantitative Linguistics and Psycholinguistics from the same university from 2009 to 2011. In 2013, they attended the USC Diversity Outreach & Academic Professional Development Institute for a workshop on grant writing and professional presentation.
