Richard Scheel, CPA, currently serves as the Controller and Director of FP&A at ERCOT since February 2020. Prior to this role, Richard was the Controller and Director of Accounting Operations for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas from October 2017 to February 2020, managing an operating budget of $2.2 million. Richard's experience includes serving as Deputy Controller for the City of Austin, Business Manager/Controller for a family-owned oil, gas, and cattle operation, and various managerial positions at Dell, including Senior Manager of Treasury Accounting. Richard's professional journey also includes significant roles at the Internal Revenue Service, AIM Investments, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Richard holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Information Systems from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Houston.
